Is Oxid a good choice if my store is to handle over 1000 transactions a day and storage up to 50. 000 products ?
Oxid yes - depends more on your hardware I guess.

they say OXID is very resource friendly. Of course, it depends on many factors, the product storage is not a problem at all (there are stores with 4 million products).
1000 transactions is pretty good! How many transactions the same time i.e. per second could happen in peaks? Which conversion rate (actually visitors the same time) do you have?
Which hardware do you run at the moment etc etc…

Oh yea, please check out this new one - www.top-badshop.com (meaning bathshop) - for your reference in the 50 000 items class. It’s running on a 4 core (8 cores virtually) root server with NginX and lazy loading module for the pictures - and MySql database is multicore capable anyhow.
Even 1000 visitors per hour should not be a problem that way but I assume, band width might become a bottle neck sooner.
Please give a feed back about your impression on that.
