CE and PE Module Compatibility

Greetings,

We just received an inquiry from a customer who needs a small module for his PE installations at short notice. Unfortunately our PE licenses haven’t arrived yet, hence we need to work with CE.

Would anyone know if the code we develop for CE would be compatible with PE?

This module relates to the Articles/Products table, and we need to create a couple of new tables. On the front end, it effects the product details page and the shopping cart (checkout page). The product-configuration page on the Admin side is also effected.

Would anyone know if the code we develop for CE would be compatible with PE?

the code for PE and CE is nearly the same except WYSIWYG (because of the license) and SOAP i believe. So your code shall work properly.

BTW: Do you see a possibility to make the module available to public under GPL? Maybe you want to go for dual licensing as well in this case?

Hi Marco - never thought about this so far, but would like to understand the legalities of this.

Any pointers on info related to dual licensing models would help.
