Details.tpl vs. details_persparam.tpl

There is a “details.tpl” and a “details_persparam.tpl”, which, on first and second view, look the same to me.

What is the difference, if any?

Hi avanger,

using details_persparam.tpl as an alternative template will allow you to use a feature called “persisten parameters”. Check it out with a test installation using this product:

Regards

I haven’t got the message, pls. explain more detail…

Sure.
For some products, you want to hand over a so called “persistent parameter” to the checkout. For example: You are selling goblets and want the visitor of your shop to leave a text for an engraving.

With this alternative template, another field is provided that’s input value will go to the checkout process.

Got it?

OK, now yes.

Is this field the only difference in the two templates?

If this is the only difference, then “details_persparam.tpl” would be an ideal candidate to disappear as a template!

The inclusion of this field could be controlled via an admin option instead.

“details.tpl” is difficult to maintain and “details_persparam.tpl” as well…
