Image-permissions chmod

My problem:
I’m using Community Edition 4.2.0 (23610) and want to upload images via the article-management backend. It actually works but the images are not shown on the website (neither back- nor frontend) until i do:
chmod o+r out -R
in SSH.
Now I just need to reload the Frontend and Voila! I can see the images I uploaded just before the chmod-command. What do I need to do, so it works without that workaround?
