Dear Marc,
I come back after a quite long period of time. I finished the Romania translation for version 4.2. Please advise me where I can post it.

Also, I have a small problem. In the admin panel, when I click on the products tab, the software generate, instead of the regular product list, an error page “‘404.shtml/’ - page can not be found”. This problem appeared suddenly, without a clear reason for me. Attached you can find also a screen shot of the page.

I guess, there is something up with some files. Check their consistency best with the oxchkversion tool:

II tried to check the files with oxchkversion but, after a while, it appear that is not working.

Hi Florin,

I checked it out as well in my VMware. It took a while (2 mins) but worked fine at the end of the day although my max_execution_time is set to only 30 seconds.

I guess on your server is another problem, maybe safe_mode set to “off” or something with the firewall…

I received an answer from webhost administrator:
" We just investigate your problem an we inform you that safe_mo is set OFF. From security reasons and because we must ensure compatibility with Fantastico and WHM we can not switch safe_mode - ON.

Going deeply on our analysis we found a possible reason which can block the acces to the mentioned file - .htaccess restrictions - the file is put on the server on the URL address."

Really, I don’t know how to solve this problem. It is very strange what happend - this problem appeared “out of the blue”. Is it a solution for it ?

Hello Florin,

the .htaccess file belongs to the shop files and is a important part for URL rewriting (SEO purposes). It has nothing to do with preventing oxchkversion.php access to other locations.
Anyway, if your provider cannot resolve the problem or refuses (safe_mode will go to history with PHP 5.3 by the way…) there are two options left:

  1. Get a mirror of your complete shop system to your development environment and check it with oxchkversion there. If you want, you can use the prepared VMware.
  2. Returning to the original problem: one page doesn’t load in admin: If you didn’t make any changes in your /admin/ folder yet I propose to transfer the content of the complete folder again via FTP. Please make sure you use the same version you have installed.
