Help Installing Modules

Hi Guys,

I know this sounds lame but every time I try to install a module into my CE4.9.7 I mess up my website, sometimes with fatal results. Thank goodness for backups.

I am trying to install Google Services which includes Google Analytics
(Google Services, 2.4.1 / 3.3.2.0 CE/PE | Stable | CE | 4.2.x - 4.9.x )

I have uploaded the GoogleAnalytics_3.3.2.0_PE_php5.4.zip as in the admin under " Service - > System Info" it advises that I am running PHP 5.4.6

Reading (as best as I could) the German instructions, I have now also uploaded:
Modul-Connector_4.3.4.1_PE_php5.4.zip as it appears as a minimum requirement.

Currently I have the zip files sitting in my FTP in file and I am unsure where to extract the zip files to…

When I have followed the exact instructions the install has failed before and it was only when I started moving files around was I able to install another module for example. This Google Services file and the Connector escapes me and I would appreciate some help.

Thanks

:confused:Don

not sure if this is the right version. i don’t know the module.

 • first make sure you run php5.4
 • then make sure you have the right module version. 4.3.x_PE sounds like the module is made for OXID 4.3.x CE/PE.
 • extract the zip on your local pc and upload the files in binary mode
 • maybe the module is encoded, in this case you need ioncube or zend (depends on the module)

maybe you can post a link to the module, that would make it much easier to give you some hints.

Thanks for your help

Google Services for the latest CE 4.9.7 version:

OXID Solution Hub - das digitale Lösungsschaufenster

Google Analytics:

OXID Solution Hub - das digitale Lösungsschaufenster

The “Modul Connector” advises: Compatibility: 4.2.x - 4.7.x/5.0.x which I read to mean 4.7.x to 5.0.0
Do you think this is an incorrect assumption?

Modul Connector:

OXID Solution Hub - das digitale Lösungsschaufenster

There are multiple versions of the foregoing software in the zip files and only one (the correct version) is required obviously.

Does this make things easier?

Compatibility: 4.2.x - 4.7.x/5.0.x means:

OXID CE/PE from 4.2 to 4.7 and
OXID EE 5.0.x

OXID CE and PE are almost identical but EE is different.

OK Don i see…

You don’t need 2 Google Modules.

In case you want to use the D3-Module (this one http://exchange.oxid-esales.com/Shop-Management/Shop-Admin/Modul-Connector-1-0-0-Stable-CE-4-2-x-4-7-x-5-0-x.html) you have to make some changes because between 4.7 and 4.9 some things have changed.

Or ask D3 http://www.oxidmodule.com/ maybe they have a version wich runs for OXID 4.8 and 4.9

For D3-Modules you need the D3 Module-Connector. If the version in exchange is outdatet, download the latest vesion direkt from d3 http://www.oxidmodule.com/kostenfreie-Module/Modul-Connector-fuer-Oxid-CE-PE-EE.html

This one works for your Version. http://exchange.oxid-esales.com/Shop-Management/Analysis-and-Controlling/Google-Analytics-tracking-1-0-Stable-CE-4-7-x-4-9-x.html

But you don’t need the D3 Module Connector.

Ok, thanks for that.

If I don’t need the D3 module I won’t bother. That said I am still unsure on how to proceed with the installation of the Analytics program. Normally I follow the instructions (even if translated poorly by me) as closely as is possible however so far I have found this doesn’t bring positive results. Once I follow the instructions and then look to the extensions / modules area, I don’t see the Analytics information or any new additions at all.

I worry that I may have mistranslated the German instructions.

for testing i ordered the alpha-sys module. This one http://exchange.oxid-esales.com/Shop-Management/Analysis-and-Controlling/Google-Analytics-tracking-1-0-Stable-CE-4-7-x-4-9-x.html

 • Extract the package on your local PC.
 • Open the directory and you will find the folder “copy_this”
 • inside these folder is a directory named “modules”. Transfer these folder (“modules”) to your shop-root.
 • keep care, your FTP-client transfers the files in binary mode.
 • after upload your directory-structure should look like this:

<shop root>/modules/asy/asy_googleanalytics

then open OXID-Admin and go to modules and you should see the module in the list. click it and activate it. I have testet it on an OXID CE 4.9.7, it works excellent.
