Inheritance problem

I have a view class say A which create an obj of another class B and check whether an article has an seo url set or not. B class takes some category id from oxconfig table and retrieve all article related to it. Now in a loop it checks for seo url for each article and collect all data required to build a seo url(Same as Admin=>Products=>seo tab)

B class extend Object_Seo class. If I keep getActCategory() func in B class then its throwing an error i.e. getActCategory() is not defined. But if I keep it in A class which has nothing to do with it, it works. What is the problem or I am doing something wrong? Can anybody help me in this regard? This Functionality is kept in B class because this is used from both side i.e. admin and front end. Class A is in views folder, B class is in admin folder.
