Problem adding new language

I’ve worked 2 days to translate those files:
out/admin/es/cust_lang.php
out/admin/es/help_lang.php
out/admin/es/lang.php
out/azure/es/cust_lang.php
out/azure/es/theme_options.php
out/azure/es/lang.php
out/basic/es/cust_lang.php
out/basic/es/theme_options.php
out/basic/es/lang.php

Then I go to “eShop Admin”->“Master Settings”->“Languages” link “Create New Language” and I put this data:
Abbreviation: es
Name: Español
(other fields empty)
Then I save the record I go to “eShop Admin”->“Master Settings”->“Core Settings” (main tab) and I select on combo box the “Español” record, then I insert the fields data in spanish and save this.
The result is than spanish data is empty again and in english record is the data I wrote for spanish.

Can anyone help me?

Nope, Ray - I think, it’s about changing the “Order E-mail Subject” and stuff.

After saving the new language (ES) in your case you have to refresh the views of your database in admin panel -> Service -> Tools -> Update database views.
After done this, you can work with the new content.

Hope that resolves the problem

super! now it works in spanish
excuse me for the ask, but I was looking for how to make a new language active and I didn’t found this information.

Thanks Marco,

No probs - although you guys are responsible for this cucumbers
I will write a tutorial about it soon.

Regards

Hi Pablo,

I really stuck with the tutorial as I wanted to do partly the same what you did. Hope you can help me now
[ul]
[li]made a new file lang.php with your translated stuff
[/li][li]copied the entire folder /out/azure/en/ to /out/azure/es/ and replaced lang.php by your translation
[/li][li]entered in admin -> master settings -> languages an active language with the abbreviation ‘es’ and the name ‘Espanol’
[/li][li]while saving, I get the error message “Attention: No translations files were found in templates dir for selected language!”. Why?
[/li][li]updated the DB views, cleared the /tmp/ folder
[/li][/ul]
As a result, switching to Spanish in front end, I get the name spaces like TOP_CATEGORIES_HOME. Doing the same with the ‘basic’ theme, I have no probs at all: Spanish is activated and showing up in the frontend (with a little char-encoding hassle, to be honest).
At a first glance, it looked to me like a bug: “Unable to install new languages with different themes”. Did you really get it working with Azure?

Cheers

Yes it works for me.
I’ve changed wherever I found the charset to UTF-8 and also to see the products on shop I’ve copied the content on tables (from mysql)
oxv_oxattribute_en
oxv_oxcategories_en
oxv_oxcontents_en
oxv_oxcountry_en
oxv_oxdeliveryset_en
oxv_oxdelivery_en
oxv_oxdiscount_en
oxv_oxgroups_en
oxv_oxlinks_en
oxv_oxmanufacturers_en
oxv_oxnews_en
oxv_oxobject2attribute_en
oxv_oxpayments_en
oxv_oxshops_en
oxv_oxstates_en
oxv_oxvendor_en
oxv_oxwrapping_en
to the _es tables, and now the shop is working fine

do you have all theese files?

Hi,

just found my mistake: Tried to use a lang.php from OXIDforge that was translated for ‘basic’. Didn’t expect another structure and different constants in the lang.php for ‘azure’, argh! Although I should have known that before and told you :frowning:
Anyway - send you an e-mail and requested the other files. Will publish then on OXIDforge besides your existing one.

About that UTF-8 hassle: I don’t think there is so much to do, even in the database. I probably have to find another editor. Will let you know.

Cheers!

…this happens if you read to fast and then just remember “Problem” - “Language” - “Español”

:o

Hello All,
