Too Many Roadblocks for N. American Version

Hello. I am using v.4.6.5_49955 w/NA_module, v6c_azure theme.

  1. During checkout in the “Payment” step below the shipping choice dropdown is a label of “Charges:” which I cannot find in the language files. I want to change it to "Shipping & Handling:"
    Does anyone know where I go to change this? I have looked in the v6c_azure directory but there are no language files. Also looked in the Azure/en/map.php & lang.php, and admin/en/lang.php directories/files and found nothing. I have also checked tpl files but they seem to have nothing to do with it.

  2. During the “Order” step of the checkout process the charge summary does not itemize the shipping charge. It is in the “Total” but does not show how it got there.

  3. Also taxes are not displayed in above step but I have not even begun to look at that yet.

I am exasperated in fighting with this NA_module and am about to give up. I need to get this shop running and I am spending way too much time on this configuration. I cannot afford the $40/month hosted version and must do it all myself (with help from forums :wink: ). I LOVE oxide because it is so elegantly simple and full featured right out of the box. The stock version works beautifully except for it being European which makes it impossible to use in the US. My latest thoughts are perhaps giving this program some more time to evolve and come back to it when my business gets to show some success (boy, am I optimistic or what?).

Any ideas are most appreciated. Thank you,

  1. “Charges:” is in application/translations/en, around line 106.
      1. Have a look at the attachments. You mean something like this? Actually it shall work - maybe only some option you didn’t set?

Ray - I think it would make sense to update the NA-Module to one of the newer versions, e.g. 4.7.6. We changed a lot whith 4.7.x, especially the tax calculation stuff which shall work perfectly for you guys. Just some display differences to be set like currency sign before value, address format etc…
Well - don’t know what time frame you’d have for that.

Hello Marco, thank you for your response. I was so down and in despair. Your post has greatly encouraged me and given me new hope. I just love this program too much to give it up. I have no specific deadline but cannot take forever either.

  1. I remember seeing the “Charges:” in the language files I edited from github, however I could not find it in my website files. Am I able to just transfer that line in application/translations/en to my azure/en/cust-lang.php file and have it take effect? I will try that.

  2. My very first installation of Oxide was v.4.7.5. The only reason I re-installed the 4.6.5 version was to be compatible with the NA_module. I am going to take your advice and upgrade to the latest version. In fact, for fear of having those NA_module files mess up my installation, I will start from scratch with a fresh new installation. I should be able to have my host re-install my DB again afterwards.

With plenty of help from folks like you in this forum, I am going to “MAKE” this happen. Thank you so very much Marco for your suggestions and words of encouragement!

You ought to have exactly this file, don’t you? If you can’t find this key in your installation and simply want to add it, It’d be better to make a /out/en/custom_lang.php closed to the general language file (azure is template dependend). More of that you can read here:

  1. To be honest: I feel tempted to join a project like this but am afraid I’d be not reliable due to other job and private duties…

  1. I did not even have a ‘translations’ directory. My en/lang.php file had 860 lines and ends with the names of the months. I may have edited some lines but I am careful not to alter the structure. No matter now as I have followed your advice and installed the latest version 4.7.6.

As always, thank you for the tutorial reference. I have read it and will refer back to it.

  1. I know what you mean about time. I am a disabled kind of guy laying in bed on my back and I simply take ‘forever’ to get things done never seeming to have enough time.
