4.4.8 as a 2 column layout (like 4.5). Possible?

Hi there,

I’ve run a search and couldn’t see anyone with this question, but I assume its been discussed somewhere.

To us there is relatively little value in the right column compared to the added value of larger product images. Which I guess is what happened when 4.5 was designed too. But for the moment, due to various factors, we’re stuck with 4.4.8.

What I’m wondering is the depth of complexity involved with ditching the right column and expanding the content to fill the extra width.

There are a few things that are made to happen over there (ie. Compare, Login etc), but can these safely be given new homes and can the products comfortably be configured to fill the new space?

Anyone tried this? Worth the hassle?

There are 4 Templates with two colums only, so should be no problem to alternate yours.

The elements on the right can easily be moved to the left column, and with some changes also to the center column. Most work is that there are really lots of hardcoded widths in css that need to be changed.
