English entries (Azure 4.9x)

I am struggling with some terms in the English translation.

German “Merkzettel” is translated as “wish list”:
http://www.bikestation.fi/shop/index.php?lang=0&cl=account_noticelist
But English “wish list” is German “Wunschzettel”

German “Wunschzettel” is translated as "gift registry"

But “wish list” would fit better here than “Merkzettel”.

German “Öffentlicher Wunschzettel” is translated as "Public gift registries"
http://demoshop.oxid-esales.com/community-edition/index.php?lang=1&cl=wishlist&wishid=
But wouldn’t “Public wish list” be more suitable?

Do you have any suggestions?

I bring this subject up in the forum, before editing with http://translate.oxidforge.org/ - so we can discuss this if required. (Don’t know the rules yet  )

This bug exists since 2011: https://bugs.oxid-esales.com/view.php?id=2804

Thank you lefonic for the link.
Didn’t know that it had even an entry in the bug tracker.

Who would like to lay hands on this subject?
I could start doing so.

It would be helpful if a native English speaking person would provide some assistance.
Anyone amongst us?

imho is “wish list” english-english and “gift registry” american-english. But i am not sure. I know the term “weeding gift registry” from the USA.

@MeisterYoda: hope this is nothing according to “weed”, is it?

In general I think, at least the GUI definitions should be fixed for language EN. Unfortunately, this cannot be done via translate.oxidforge.org but must be processed via pull requests in GitHub: https://github.com/OXID-eSales/oxideshop_ce/

Please also note this important comment:

I reckon this will lead to massive confusion when coding these pieces…

 jesus christ… wedding of course. But, maybe a gift registry of weed could bring more fun than a wedding.

Now I remember. We spoke about this already.

Alternative - If someone does not or can not work with github - as workaround, the cust_lang.php can be used. @ least as long as the “core” file isn’t modified.
