Forums against upload filters - forum close for one day!

Read the German version here

Hello, everybody,

the OXID forum has been around for a long time, certainly since 2004/2005, and so far we have always managed together to focus on our topic. But today it is time to interfere in politics, because - as we currently understand it - the new regulations would possibly also affect the existence of our common forum.

What is it about?

Absolutely worth reading is also the open letter to MEPs on the same site.

A clear positioning in own words:
A re-organisation of copyright law in the form in which it has existed since 1965 is urgently needed in times of the simple digitalisation of data and their upload/download in global networking, e.g. via the Internet.

Upload filters and the associated restriction of freedom of expression, and even the questioning of such a purpose- and interest-oriented forum as ours, would severely restrict our working methods or even make them impossible. For this reason alone, the procedure in the planned amendment is unacceptable.

We, the moderators of this forum, have therefore decided to close this forum together with Wikipedia Germany for one day, Thursday, 21st March 2019, in order to raise awareness, protest and solidarity.

In emergencies (shop down etc.) please contact the colleagues listed here in the OXID Savvy Programme: https://oxidforge.org/de/vendor

Let us (the mods) here know how you feel about the planned changes and what you think about our action.
