I have a specific question re: Oxid - a concrete client request. I’ve tried reading my way through the documentation, and searched in forum threads, via Google + tried different things already… but I’m not there (yet).
I would like to set up so-called recycling fees, which are compulsory here in Switzerland for electronic items.
The desired functionality:
An amount x per article, which is added to the total cost in the shopping cart.
e.g. if I add 3 machines to the cart, I should see an additional 3 x Fr. 2.50 in the cart. Whether as an immaterial item, or further below, where freight / VAT is calculated, is not important.
What I already tried so far:
a) A surcharge defined as discount (type “itm”). I made sure at least 3x, that all the relations are there, and correct (articles, countries, customer types, delivery methods etc.). Nothing’s really happening though in the checkout.
The recycling fee item is setup, active, and it is even displayed in the cart. However, the price of this article is NOT being added to the total. It’s just as if I would have defined a free add-on product. Which is not at all what I need.
b) Setup surcharge as new delivery cost method. Didn’t work either.
I can’t believe I am the first Oxid user, who is trying to achieve something similar. Industry / state fees are quite common these days for certain products, no? The client refuses to simply calculate the fees INTO the article price, mainly for psychological reasons (199 + 2.50 looks cheaper that a grand total of 201.50 - the 2.50 are only supposed to show in the cart, not in the shop / catalogue).
What is the proven, tried + tested Oxid way of doing something like this? I’d really appreciate tips, links to tutorials / Wiki articles etc.
Thanks for reading.

I’m using the Community Edition 4.5.0_34568.

I posted the exact same message in the German language forum as well. Hope you don’t mind.
