when its good enough
So please help testing and hunt for bugs - all we chase down before the final release will not annoy us laterā¦
The beta can be found here: http://wiki.oxidforge.org/Downloads/4.7.0_5.0.0
Hi there,
big question on my mind:
If I am NOT hunting for the newest features but just want a hassle free update (from 4.4.5) with as little bugs and problems as possible - which version should I update to? On http://www.oxidforge.org/Home it says āVersion 4.6.0.final has been releasedā - does that mean everything after that is just beta?
All I need is a running shop with a running efire paypal module. Do I even need to update? It seems that some of our customers have problems paying with PayPal and I suppose thatās because our version is getting oldā¦?
Iād be happy to hear which version is āmost finalā :o

Hi Micha,

Meant is the 4.6.x series. The most final of it is now 4.6.5.
Updating of course is not a must, but every time a good idea because we cannot support all versions for the last 30 years As you can see from cumulative update packages, that there are steps built in like for 4.4.8 and 4.5.11. It is recommended, to take this steps.

Hi Marco,
thank you - I was afraid that you would say that.
I assume you are aware of the fact that updating a shop can/will lead to a myriad of problems - e.g. white pages because a file happes to be missing (see http://forum.oxid-esales.com/showthread.php?t=14327), error messages because the shop wants to read a directory that hasnāt been created (promo), adjusting templates (which has been changed enormously since 4.4.5), installing modulesā¦
I think there would be quite a few readers who would like to avoid updatingā¦ :(ā¦
This time I will document every step of my updating process and the problems I face and the solutions I find (thanks to this forum)ā¦ Maybe I post it for others like me for whom updating is a nighmareā¦
Thanks anyway for posting in this forumā¦ I donāt have a clue how you people find the time and the patience to be so helpful

nore me - unless they get paid for
By the way, I would suggest to try the update with a copy of your shop first, before updating the live one. You are free to open a new thread anywhere in forums when you face problems while updating - there will always be some helping hands around, IĀ“m sure!
